The Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Cities (FAIC) is a transnational network founded in 1999 that brings together 46 municipalities from the Adriatic-Ionian area. The aim of the Forum is to promote institutional cooperation and sustainable development among local authorities in the region, while strengthening intercultural dialogue, territorial cohesion, and European integration.
Through joint initiatives, European projects, and political-institutional dialogue opportunities, FAIC actively contributes to European integration and the reinforcement of multilevel governance. It is officially recognized as a stakeholder of the European Union Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and takes part in its consultation and implementation mechanisms.
The Permanent Secretariat is based at the Municipality of Ancona, which ensures its operational coordination and organizes activities in synergy with the Forum’s members, European institutions, and other actors involved in macro-regional cooperation.
